My travel style
I love traveling – not going on vacation. I believe the best travel experiences challenge you and push you outside of your comfort zone. Resorts and hotels are for vacationing, while hostels, homestays and camping give you a glimpse at what life is like as a local in a foreign land. Venturing to atypical destinations and discovering tastes, sights and customs that I’ve never heard of before is the main goal of my explorations in every corner of the world across nearly 80 countries and all 7 continents.
Recently returned from:
- Road-tripping through the mountain towns of the Dolomites.
- Backpacking through the varied terrain of Argentina from beaches to waterfalls to Patagonian peaks.
- Surfing, hiking and biking through the Big Island of Hawaii.
- Overland safari camping from Kenya down the coast of Africa to South Africa.
Dreaming of...
- Everest Base Camp and surrounding peaks of the Himalayas.
- Exploring every inch of Sri Lanka.
- Van-life in New Zealand.
What's one thing you can't travel without?
Camera and journal – capturing the moment and self-reflecting are essential parts of travel for me!
Two truths, one lie:
- I visited the Sistine Chapel at the same time as Barack Obama.
- I’ve lived in 10 U.S. states for at least a month each.
- I was once woken up by a hyena outside my tent in the Serengeti.
