My travel style
I love a unique adventure; I always keep a pulse on the destinations that go beyond Top 10 lists. I live for unique hotels and amazing hospitality, and I’m a firm believer that a good hotel should offer the ultimate experience in hospitality: a fine balance between feeling at home and like a treasured guest. I’m all about balance, and I pace my trips consciously and intentionally to balance research and serendipitous experiences. It’s not all about luxury nor is it all low brow – but I never say no to a meal at a busy street stand or night market, or the opportunity to hang with the locals.
Recently returned from:
- Exploring our own backyard with road trips up and down the coast to Santa Barbara, The Santa Ynez Valley, Summerland, Laguna Beach and Carlsbad.
- Popped back to Canada once the borders reopened for a duty tour to finally hug our family and friends again.
Dreaming of...
- Definitely back to Nicaragua – like most people, our spring break plans of 2020 were cancelled.
- Verdad Nicaragua, a small eco lodge near San Juan Del Sur where we’ll take some family surf lessons.
- The Lodge at Blue Sky in Wanship, Utah, a luxurious mountain escape on a 3,500 acre ranch near Park City, Utah.
- The new Four Seasons on the Sea of Cortez outside of Los Cabos!
What's one thing you can't travel without?
My vintage FTb 35mm Canon.
Two truths, one lie:
- San Miguel de Allende is my adopted second home.
- I got my pilot’s license to celebrate my 30th birthday.
- I’m also a travel writer, and my work has been published in Elle Canada, Well+Good and Here Magazine.
